About the role
We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a friendly, inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham, East London. The role starts in September 2026 and offers a full‑time, long‑term placement supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.
Key responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
- Deliver targeted interventions in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics.
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group assistance to pupils who need extra help.
- Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to the teacher.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
- Support school trips, enrichment activities and wider school life.
Required profile
- Minimum one year experience as a Teaching Assistant in a UK primary school.
- Experience supporting pupils in EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, patient and proactive attitude.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour support abilities.
- Genuine passion for helping children learn and succeed.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

- No specific technical skills required.
