External Communications Manager – Oxford University Innovation

About the role

We are seeking an External Communications Manager to lead OUI’s external communications, shaping how we showcase world‑changing innovation to industry, government, investors, media and academia. The role combines strategic planning with hands‑on execution, ensuring OUI’s expertise is communicated clearly and compellingly.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver integrated external communications campaigns aligned with OUI’s strategy.
• Create high‑quality content for media, digital and social channels.
• Manage OUI’s social media platforms, using insights to drive engagement.
• Collaborate with media and PR agencies to build profile and protect reputation.
• Work with visual teams to develop storytelling assets.
• Maintain the content calendar and act as a trusted advisor to internal colleagues.
• Develop and nurture relationships across OUI, the University of Oxford and external partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, preferably within a fast‑paced, research‑oriented environment.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to deliver high‑quality outputs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards.
