Fabric Technician

About the role

The Fabric Technician will support the BGIS facilities team at the King's Cross Estate, ensuring that all fabric‑related maintenance and reactive tasks meet the agreed service levels. The role involves a mix of routine upkeep, emergency response, and coordination with engineering and subcontractor teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine fabric maintenance and reactive tasks to exceed service level agreements.
• Perform moves, changes, painting, decorating and a full range of DIY tasks to maintain an attractive environment.
• Load, unload and store stock, spares and deliveries safely.
• Replace lamps, tubes and clean lighting diffusers following BGIS electrical safety and LOTO procedures.
• Assist the BGIS engineering team with planned and reactive engineering activities.
• Complete and forward all paperwork for PPM, reactive and breakdown work.
• Support the Water Treatment Engineer with water management system logbooks.
• Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for supervisor sign‑off and ensure RAMS are verified before use.
• Maintain comprehensive maintenance records and keep storage areas tidy.
• Work safely as a lone worker when required, wearing uniform and appropriate PPE.

• Readiness to undertake lone working after satisfactory training.
