Facilities Manager

About the role

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all UK facilities, including office and GxP laboratory environments. This role ensures that infrastructure, utilities, and equipment are maintained to a high standard, supporting business continuity and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operation of buildings, infrastructure and critical systems to maintain compliance and operational readiness.
• Lead facility upgrades, modifications and capital projects, delivering on scope, budget and regulatory requirements.
• Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring work is scoped, scheduled and delivered in line with health & safety and GxP standards.
• Maintain asset lifecycle management, including servicing, calibration and preventative maintenance programmes.
• Ensure site utilities (electricity, gas, water, air‑conditioning, waste systems) comply with legislation and best practice such as Legionella ACoP, PAT and fixed‑wire testing.
• Act as primary contact for facilities‑related issues, providing timely resolution and clear stakeholder communication.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for facilities operations.
• Keep audit‑ready facilities documentation, records and contracts.
• Support Quality Assurance with internal audits, external inspections and compliance reporting.
• Lead health & safety systems, risk assessments, COSHH processes, incident reporting and investigations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing office and laboratory facilities in the UK.
• Strong knowledge of GxP standards, UK HSE legislation and COSHH requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and lead capital projects.
• Experience maintaining audit‑ready documentation and supporting regulatory inspections.
