Family & Childcare Paralegal – Manchester

About the role

Our client, a top‑tier law firm recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, is seeking a dedicated Family & Childcare Paralegal for a permanent position in Manchester. You will work within a highly regarded Family & Children department, supporting both high‑net‑worth and private clients across a wide range of family law matters.

Key responsibilities

• Report directly to the Department Director and manage a proactive caseload.
• Assist with casework covering both Legal Aid funded and private client matters, including divorce, domestic abuse, adoption, child abduction, and financial settlements.
• Attend clients, take instructions, prepare cases and draft documents such as witness statements.
• Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency.
• Handle correspondence, process evidence and attend conferences and court hearings.
• Maintain accurate time‑costing records and ensure compliance with file‑management procedures.
• Implement supervisor recommendations following monthly file reviews.

Required profile

• Passion for family law with demonstrable experience in a broad range of family matters.
• Strong academic background in law (qualified solicitor or paralegal qualification preferred).
• Excellent client‑care skills, sensitivity and a professional, proactive approach.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
