Family & Childcare Solicitor – 5+ Years PQE

About the role

This is a key position within a growing family law practice in Birmingham. You will join a busy team with an existing caseload of complex childcare matters and will be expected to hit the ground running.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied childcare caseload, including child arrangements orders, contact disputes, parental responsibility matters, adoption proceedings, emergency applications, protection orders and public law proceedings.
• Advise and represent clients at courts and tribunals, conducting advocacy where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, contributing to business development initiatives.
• Collaborate with senior team members to ensure high‑quality service and support the practice’s growth.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in family and childcare law.
• Proven track record of handling complex, sensitive cases with a strong reputation for client care.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Motivated, proactive and enthusiastic about delivering technical excellence.

Required skills

• Advocacy experience and confidence in court representation.
• In‑depth knowledge of family childcare legislation and procedures.
• Ability to draft and negotiate legal documents related to child arrangements, adoption and protection orders.
