Family Solicitor / Chartered Legal Executive – Public Law Children (Hartlepool)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Family Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a well‑established North East law firm in Hartlepool. You will work within a supportive family department, managing your own caseload of Public Law Children matters and providing guidance to vulnerable clients throughout each stage of proceedings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Public Law Children cases from instruction through to conclusion.
• Advise and represent clients during proceedings, including advocacy where appropriate.
• Draft legal documents such as Children Act applications, witness statements, court orders, and instructions to counsel and experts.
• Complete Legal Help and Legal Aid documentation, including eligibility assessments.
• Build strong relationships with clients, counsel, local authorities and other professionals.
• Ensure compliance with SRA and other regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years PQE (or equivalent) in Public Family Law.
• Proven experience managing Public Law Children matters.
• Knowledge of Legal Help and public funding processes.
• Excellent communication and client‑care abilities.
• Strong organisational and case‑management skills.
• A genuine passion for assisting vulnerable clients.
• Children Panel Accreditation is advantageous but not essential.
