Female Support Worker - Learning Disabilities

About the role

Glenholme Specialist Healthcare is recruiting a Support Worker for its learning disabilities service at Warwick Manor and Shakespeare House in Bedford (MK40). The role supports people with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and complex needs to live as independently as possible. Applicants must live within a 10-mile radius of the site, and only female applicants can be considered due to an occupational requirement exemption under the Equality Act 2010. The position is full-time, up to 37.5 hours per week, with flexible day and night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Help with daily living tasks such as personal care, cooking and medication
• Encourage independence and life skills development
• Support social and community engagement
• Build meaningful relationships with residents, families and healthcare professionals
• Maintain accurate care records and contribute to personalised care planning

Required profile

• Prior experience in health and social care with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour is required
• Full training and ongoing support is provided
• An enhanced DBS check is required

What we offer

• Pay of £12.75 to £12.95 per hour, rising to £12.85 after completing the care certificate (about 12 weeks) or to £12.95 after an NVQ in health and social care or an NVQ Level 2
