Field Interviewer - Inverness

About the role

Join Natcen Social Research as a part‑time Field Interviewer based in the Inverness area. You will travel to households across the community to conduct face‑to‑face research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport, helping to shape public policy and improve everyday life.

Key responsibilities

• Visit residents in their homes and conduct structured interviews using a tablet or laptop.
• Record responses accurately and ensure data quality in line with Natcen’s standards.
• Manage door‑knocking, handle refusals and maintain a professional, courteous demeanor.
• Plan and travel to interview locations, keeping track of mileage and travel time.
• Maintain personal equipment (tablet/laptop, broadband) and keep interview schedules up to date.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence with sole use of a car.
• Class 1 business insurance for the vehicle.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet with a working camera.
• At least 18 hours per week availability, with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

What we offer

• £20‑£30 per interview (typical), plus admin fees and holiday pay (12.1%).
• Travel time paid at £4.68 per hour and mileage reimbursement at 36p per mile (up to 10,000 miles).
• Performance bonuses: £250 after launch, then additional £250 at two and four months.
• Average hourly rate around £15.12, with higher rates for experienced interviewers.
• Flexible, part‑time hours that can fit around other commitments.
