Field Interviewer – Part‑time (Hebrides)

About the role
As a Field Interviewer for Natcen Social Research you will visit households across the Hebrides to conduct face‑to‑face research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport. Working with a tablet or laptop, you will capture real‑world experiences that help shape public policy.
Key responsibilities
- Knock on doors and arrange interviews with residents who have received a prior invitation letter.
- Guide conversations using a digital questionnaire to record accurate data.
- Manage travel logistics, including mileage reporting and time tracking.
- Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality throughout each interview.
Required profile
- Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
- Class 1 business insurance for vehicle use.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
- Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet with a camera.
- At least 18 hours per week availability, with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Required skills
- Comfortable using basic technology (tablet or laptop) for data entry.
- Strong verbal and written English communication.
What we offer
- £20‑£30 per interview, plus admin fees, holiday pay and travel reimbursement.
- Bonus payments of £250 after launch and at two‑month intervals.
- Average hourly rate around £15.12, with higher rates for experienced interviewers.
- Flexible part‑time schedule to fit around other commitments.
