Field Interviewer – Part‑time (Kilmarnock area)

About the role
NatCen Social Research is looking for reliable, friendly individuals to join its field team in the Ardrossan/Kilmarnock area. You will conduct face‑to‑face research interviews in people’s homes, gathering real‑world insights on health, housing, transport and other public‑interest topics.
Key responsibilities
- Visit households to carry out structured interviews using a tablet or laptop.
- Record responses accurately and ensure data quality.
- Knock on doors, introduce yourself, and handle situations where participants decline or are unavailable.
- Represent NatCen professionally and maintain a courteous demeanor throughout each visit.
Required profile
- Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car with Class 1 business insurance.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
- Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet equipped with a camera.
- Minimum 18 hours per week availability with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
- Strong verbal and written English skills.
Required skills
- Comfortable using basic technology such as tablets, laptops and internet browsers.
What we offer
- £20‑£30 per completed interview, plus admin fees, holiday pay and travel reimbursements.
- Travel time paid at £4.68 per hour and mileage at 36p per mile (up to 10 000 miles).
- Performance bonuses: £250 after launch and additional £250 at two and four months.
- Average hourly rate of approximately £15.12, higher for experienced interviewers.
