Field Service Engineer – Retail & Hospitality Tech (Swindon)

About the role

nGeneration is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its team in Swindon. You will travel to client sites across the UK, installing, refurbishing and maintaining a range of retail and hospitality technology, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Visit client locations to install, repair and maintain EPoS terminals, chip‑and‑pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens and kitchen management systems.
• Configure routers, set up Wi‑Fi networks and diagnose data‑cable faults on‑site.
• Perform equipment swap‑outs, conduct on‑site testing and ensure all work is signed off by the client.
• Document troubleshooting steps and escalate complex issues to the appropriate support team.
• Travel across the North West, Central, South East, South West and occasionally UK‑wide, including overnight stays when required.

Required profile

• Clean full UK manual driver’s licence.
• Strong client‑facing attitude with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Willingness to work 13‑hour shifts on a 3‑days‑on/3‑days‑off rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Previous experience with IT or electronic equipment installation is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided.
