Finance Analyst – 12‑Month Contract – Up to £36,000 (Hybrid)

About the role

The Finance Analyst will join a collaborative team in Reading, delivering high‑quality accounting services to internal stakeholders and external clients. This 12‑month contract role is hybrid, offering a blend of office and remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual accounting statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) on time.
• Perform detailed reconciliations of ledgers and client balances, resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Provide robust variance analysis with clear commentary to support decision‑making.
• Support the preparation and ongoing management of budgets and forecasts, offering actionable recommendations.
• Prepare VAT transaction reports and ensure compliance with tax legislation.
• Assist internal and external audit processes, preparing documentation and liaising with auditors.
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients, delivering proactive financial insight and resolving queries.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, controls and data quality.
• Deliver financial analysis and support client‑specific projects and strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and financial reporting skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
• Highly organised, capable of managing multiple portfolios, priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive, analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Part‑qualified or actively working towards an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or already qualified.
• Understanding of real‑estate accounting principles is desirable.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reconciliations and reporting.
