Finance Business Partner

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to provide hands‑on financial support across a range of council services. You will help budget managers understand their financial position, navigate pressures and make informed decisions that keep services running smoothly for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for budget managers, offering financial guidance and decision‑making support.
• Own budget setting, medium‑term forecasting, in‑year monitoring, variance analysis and financial controls.
• Ensure all financial information is accurate, timely and compliant with council policies.
• Collaborate with operational teams to resolve issues, improve processes and strengthen financial discipline.

Required profile

• Experience in a Finance Business Partner role within a local authority or large public‑sector organisation, preferably in social care, housing or capital projects.
• Strong analytical ability and proven proficiency in financial forecasting and variance analysis.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with diverse stakeholders.
