Finance Manager BGB Billing, Debt & Collections

About the role

Our client, a leading energy organisation, is seeking a Finance Manager to act as the lead Finance Business Partner for Billing, Debt & Collections. The role will provide strategic financial insights, drive cash performance and support operational decision‑making across the customer billing and debt lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Translate operational performance into clear financial implications and actionable insights.
• Build trusted relationships with Operations, Finance, Data and Technology teams and challenge assumptions.
• Represent Finance in debt governance forums, highlighting risks, opportunities and key decisions.
• Develop integrated insights across Billing, Operations and Collections to improve the cash value chain.
• Identify opportunities to improve cash collection, reduce bad debt and influence operational strategies.
• Own monthly reporting for debt performance, cash recovery and collections activity.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes with scenario modelling focused on operational drivers.
• Drive a technology‑first approach to collections, leveraging data for risk scoring and treatment optimisation.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong commercial finance business‑partnering experience with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Commercial acumen and experience in high‑volume retail or customer‑facing operations is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
