Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Finance Manager to join a well‑established manufacturing business in Blackburn. The company, with a £10 million turnover and around 60 employees, is entering a critical phase of financial improvement and system implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and configuration of Sage 50, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Review existing finance processes and introduce appropriate controls and measures.
• Manage short‑ and medium‑term cash‑flow forecasting and working capital.
• Prepare monthly management accounts for review by the Fractional Finance Director.
• Produce supporting analysis, reconciliations and commentary.
• Oversee year‑end accounting, VAT registration and returns.
• Liaise with external accountants, professional advisers and ledger clerks.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, controls and management reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a finance management role within a manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on, practical approach with the ability to take ownership of system implementation and day‑to‑day finance.
• Immediate availability or ability to start on very short notice.
• Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness to support senior management decisions.

Required skills

• Sage 50 implementation and configuration.
