Finance Manager - Residential Property Accounts

About the role

This 12‑month maternity cover position leads the finance function for a large Build‑to‑Rent residential portfolio. You will oversee tenant billing, cash allocation, arrears management and ledger integrity while managing a small team of accounts assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end monthly billing cycle for residential tenants, including rent, deposits, reservation fees and ad‑hoc charges.
• Oversee tenant cash allocation and ensure accurate balances on ledgers.
• Lead a small accounts team, set priorities and meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of property‑management and finance systems.
• Act as the primary finance contact for leasing, tenancy progression and property‑management teams.
• Monitor arrears, control debtor processes and administer direct debits.
• Ensure full bank reconciliation and prompt resolution of reconciling items.
• Support improvements to operational finance processes, systems and payment platforms.
• Assist with finance‑related regulatory or legislative changes affecting residential tenancies.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a small finance or accounts team.
• Background in residential property accounts (tenant billing, cash allocation, arrears) or a qualified accountant seeking team‑management experience.
• Experience in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven operational finance environment.
• Strong reconciliation, control and reporting abilities.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships across leasing, tenancy progression and operational teams.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Yardi or a similar property‑management system.
