Finance Officer – Not-for-Profit

About the role

The Finance Officer will support the financial operations of a small not-for-profit organisation in Lancaster. You will ensure accurate processing of invoices, maintain financial records and help the team meet budgeting and reporting objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchase ledger activities, processing invoices and ensuring timely payments.
• Perform account reconciliations, journal postings, accruals and pre-payments for month-end processes.
• Maintain accurate records of expenditure, utilities, property costs and other operational finance areas.
• Monitor budgets and expenditure, investigate variances and assist with financial reporting and forecasting.
• Liaise with suppliers, utility providers and internal departments to resolve queries and ensure accurate financial information.
• Support continuous improvement of finance processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Required profile

• Background in accounting or finance with relevant qualifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to identifying and solving financial challenges.

Required skills

• Proficiency in financial software.
• Microsoft Office applications.
