Financial Accountant – Exeter (Hybrid)

About the role

We are partnering with a rapidly growing retail organisation based in Exeter that is expanding its online presence. The Financial Accountant will own the accounting for one of the group entities, delivering accurate reporting and supporting commercial decisions. You will work closely with the Group Financial Controller on transformation projects and audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts, including balance‑sheet and revenue reconciliations.
• Post journal entries and prepare VAT returns.
• Act as the main point of contact for external auditors for the assigned business unit.
• Manage client funds in line with regulatory requirements.
• Support month‑end processes across other group entities when needed.
• Contribute to finance projects such as systems improvements, control strengthening and reporting enhancements.

Required profile

• Solid experience of month‑end processes and management accounting.
• Strong understanding of financial controls and process improvement.
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or a late‑stage student.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a wider team.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
