Financial Accountant – Global Business Services

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its Global Business Services centre in Paisley. Reporting to the Finance Manager for the EMEA team, the accountant will ensure the financial accuracy of assigned entities and support senior leadership across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Execute monthly closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and financial analysis.
• Prepare and submit local tax filings in coordination with site teams.
• Maintain compliance with US GAAP, Sarbanes‑Oxley, company policies and SOPs, and recommend control improvements.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Identify and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives and participate in system implementations and PPIs.
• Collaborate proactively across functional lines and handle ad‑hoc finance tasks.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ICAS, ACCA, CPA, ACA, CIMA).
• Relevant experience in financial accounting and month‑end processes.
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a compliance‑focused mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and accountability.
