Financial Controller – Hybrid, £70k‑£75k

About the role

The organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its financial control, reporting and treasury functions. Reporting to the Finance Director, the role combines senior leadership with hands‑on responsibility for month‑end, year‑end and strategic financial activities in a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end and year‑end close process, delivering accurate and timely financial statements.
• Prepare management accounts, including balance sheet, cash flow and income statement reporting to year‑end standards.
• Manage treasury activities, banking relationships and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Provide insightful financial analysis and commentary to support senior decision‑making.
• Oversee statutory reporting, regulatory submissions and external audit processes.
• Maintain a robust financial control environment and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with senior finance leaders on budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning.
• Lead and develop finance teams covering financial accounting, management accounting and transactional finance.
• Ensure governance, compliance and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
• Support organisation‑wide projects and strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting expertise.
• Proven experience leading month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Extensive background in management accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience in treasury management and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Track record of managing statutory reporting, regulatory compliance and external audits.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
