Financial Controller

About the role

We are a fast‑growing, founder‑led consumer brand seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function in London. Reporting directly to the founders and senior leadership, you will build finance processes, reporting and controls to support ambitious expansion plans.

Key responsibilities

• Own monthly management accounts, reporting packs, and financial analysis
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls, compliance, and audit readiness
• Manage transactional finance, including AP, AR, payroll, and day‑to‑day operations
• Oversee VAT, tax compliance, and statutory reporting
• Review and improve finance processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls
• Partner with operational teams on cost control, margin improvement, and commercial decision‑making
• Evaluate current systems (Sage 50) and propose improvements
• Build, mentor, and upskill the finance team to support future scale

Required profile

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance lead in an SME or scaling business
• Strong background in financial control, reporting, and process improvement
• Experience managing and developing finance teams
• Comfortable operating in founder‑led, entrepreneurial environments
• Prior exposure to retail, consumer, hospitality, or multi‑site businesses is highly advantageous
