Financial Controller

About the role

Shephard Group is looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to own the entire finance function. Reporting directly to the COO, you will combine operational ownership, financial control, and commercial insight to support the company’s rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary finance lead and first point of contact for all finance matters.
• Own end‑to‑end finance activities, including bank reconciliations, cash oversight, and a rolling 13‑week cash‑flow forecast.
• Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes and review outsourced provisions.
• Manage payroll, month‑end close, and production of management accounts.
• Develop and enforce financial controls, policies, and risk management procedures.
• Identify, understand, and resolve finance issues while keeping the COO supported.
• Drive system, process improvement and finance‑related projects.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant or equivalent experience.
• Strong operational and technical accounting background.
• Proven experience owning a finance function as a sole or senior lead.
• Demonstrated ability to produce management accounts and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Experience in subscription‑based businesses is a plus.
