Financial Controller

About the role

Alpha CRC, a fast‑growing translation and language services group, is looking for a commercially astute Financial Controller to lead finance operations from its Cambridge office. You will be responsible for the integrity of group financial reporting and will support senior leadership with actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements for all group entities.
• Deliver timely variance analysis and performance commentary to senior leadership.
• Develop and maintain group‑wide accounting policies in line with UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Oversee intercompany reconciliations, transfer pricing arrangements and cash‑flow/working‑capital management.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
• Coordinate year‑end audits and manage audit readiness throughout the year.
• Design and implement robust internal controls and update finance policies.
• Lead finance system upgrades or ERP implementations to improve reporting and automation.
• Mentor and develop a geographically dispersed finance team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven experience in a multi‑entity, international environment.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.

Required skills

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with ERP systems and finance‑system upgrades.
• Transfer pricing and intercompany reconciliation expertise.
• Cash‑flow management and treasury skills, including FX risk mitigation.
