Financial Controller

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing manufacturing business in Sheffield that has secured two rounds of investment in the last five years. The company is seeking a technically strong Financial Controller with a practice and audit background to own statutory reporting, lead external audits, and drive financial planning and analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full month‑end close process, including management accounts, inventory valuations, balance‑sheet reconciliations and reporting within a five‑day group deadline.
• Produce cash‑flow forecasts and manage working capital.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and align financial plans with business objectives.
• Prepare timely, accurate financial and operational performance reports for senior leadership.
• Conduct in‑depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities and improvement areas.
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS and all relevant financial regulations.
• Act as financial compliance lead for tax, internal and external audit requirements.
• Develop and enhance ERP and other reporting platforms.
• Mentor and develop a team of three finance professionals.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA).
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Background in practice and audit.
• Demonstrated team‑management experience.

Required skills

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting platforms.
