Financial Controller

About the role

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own the day‑to‑day financial management of Seloxium Limited, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting and strong governance as the business scales across its Oxford R&D lab and North‑East pilot plant. The role blends hands‑on controllership with strategic project work, offering genuine breadth for a qualified accountant.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts end‑to‑end, providing timely financial insight to senior leadership.
• Maintain and continuously improve the financial control environment, including reconciliations and process controls.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury functions to safeguard cash flow and working capital.
• Manage the year‑end statutory accounts process and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Ensure full compliance with UK GAAP and all relevant reporting standards.
• Lead VAT returns, tax compliance and coordinate with external advisors.
• Consolidate group accounts and align reporting between parent and subsidiary entities.
• Support financial management of overseas entities, intercompany transactions and transfer pricing.
• Coordinate R&D tax credit claim submissions and other grant compliance activities.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP principles.
• Proven experience in an SME, high‑growth or start‑up environment.
• Ability to build and improve finance processes from the ground up.
• Comfort operating hands‑on while thinking strategically and engaging senior stakeholders.
