Financial Controller

About the role

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a prestigious international law firm to hire a Financial Controller for its UK finance team. This senior, technically strong role will own the UK financial control function, ensuring integrity, compliance and operational excellence across the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Lead statutory accounts preparation, year‑end reporting and external audit coordination.
• Ensure UK tax compliance, including VAT and corporate obligations.
• Oversee financial accounting – reconciliations, journals, balance‑sheet reviews and month‑end close.
• Manage partner payroll, distributions and related reporting.
• Strengthen financial controls, expense management and accounts payable processes.
• Maintain banking relationships, treasury activities and corporate card administration.
• Produce accurate management reports to support decision‑making.
• Own payroll operations, pensions administration, HMRC compliance and year‑end payroll reporting.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant.
• Strong technical accounting background, preferably from a Top 10 accountancy firm or complex professional services environment.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in senior financial accounting roles.
• Experience in the legal sector or broader professional services is advantageous.
• Deep understanding of UK GAAP, statutory reporting, audit processes, HMRC requirements and SAR regulations.

• Familiarity with SAR regulations.

• Salary range £90,000 – £110,000 per year plus bonus.
