Fire Service Instructor – Hybrid Learning

About the role

The Fire Service College is transforming its curriculum to a hybrid, digital‑first model. We are seeking an experienced Fire Service Instructor to deliver high‑quality theoretical and practical training for firefighter foundation programmes, supporting both public fire & rescue services and private sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and coordinate FSC courses, providing constructive feedback to delegates and, when required, lead syndicate sessions.
• Ensure health, safety and welfare of learners, colleagues and visitors, including off‑site training venues.
• Contribute to the annual delivery plan by expanding personal expertise across specialist areas and supporting courses outside the core curriculum.
• Promote equality, diversity and a strong health‑and‑safety culture in line with FSC’s values and legal obligations.

Required profile

• Qualified firefighter instructor with experience in a uniformed training environment, preferably within a fire & rescue service or recognised fire training establishment.
• Strong knowledge of the fire sector, qualifications and curriculum framework.
• Nationally recognised training qualification (minimum AET Level 3) and relevant assessor awards; willingness to obtain Internal Verifier accreditation.
• Holding or working towards SFJ Level 3 BAI, SFJ Level 3 TVI, CFBTI Level 3 or equivalent.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
