First Line Support Engineer

About the role

The British Transport Police are seeking a First Line Support Engineer to join their Control Rooms and Visual Services team. You will provide proactive technical support for CCTV infrastructure and related IT assets, ensuring high availability of critical visual services across the rail network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support for CCTV systems, PCs, laptops and associated infrastructure.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network and CCTV‑related issues, liaising with external service providers when required.
• Perform daily checks on remote server infrastructure and support high‑availability services.
• Collaborate with Technical Support Engineers and the Head of Visual Services Network & Infrastructure to implement hardware, software and infrastructure upgrades.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, HND or equivalent experience in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Previous experience in a technical support, IT support or service‑desk environment.
• Knowledge of IP and analogue CCTV systems and fault diagnosis.
• Understanding of Windows Server environments, networking principles and network protocols.
• Strong problem‑solving, prioritisation and communication abilities.
