Fitter/Welder – Heavy Industrial Fabrication

About the role

ReFood is seeking a skilled Fitter/Welder to join its Dagenham site, a leading food‑waste recycling and renewable energy facility. You will work in a heavy‑industrial environment, fabricating and welding stainless‑steel and low‑carbon‑steel pipework, frameworks and components while supporting plant maintenance and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Measure, cut, shape and prepare metal materials for fabrication.
• Assemble and align fabricated components to ensure accurate fit and functionality.
• Perform TIG, MIG and Arc welding to a high standard.
• Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy and compliance.
• Repair damaged metal structures, machinery and equipment components.
• Support routine maintenance and high‑priority repair activities across the plant.
• Identify and propose plant modifications to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

Required profile

• Valid welding qualifications with current certification.
• Experience working in a heavy industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic education including English and Mathematics.
