Foundation Year 2 Doctor – 12‑month Fixed‑Term

About the role

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is offering a 12‑month fixed‑term position for a Foundation Year 2 Doctor. The role provides a structured rotational experience across cardiovascular surgery, emergency medicine and general internal medicine, based primarily at Southampton and concluding at Lymington Hospital. This is a service post that supports the delivery of patient care while offering exposure to a range of clinical environments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ward‑based medical care in cardiovascular surgery, emergency medicine and general internal medicine rotations.
• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions under supervision.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and handovers.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS governance standards.
• Travel independently to Lymington Hospital for the final placement.

Required profile

• Medical graduate eligible for NHS employment.
• Current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
• Ability to work autonomously and travel between hospital sites.
• Commitment to a 12‑month service contract.

• Basic procedural skills relevant to cardiovascular surgery and emergency medicine.
