Freelance Account Director – Healthcare Communications

About the role

We are seeking a driven freelance Account Director to support our Healthcare Communications team on three high‑profile accounts covering Alzheimer’s disease, obesity and immunology. The role will span 6‑8 weeks and involves project management, campaign planning and support for a consumer activation event.

Key responsibilities

• Project‑manage and supervise delivery of client services across multiple healthcare accounts.
• Lead regular client meetings, review progress and allocate tasks to internal teams.
• Manage account teams, providing direction to ensure high‑quality service.
• Oversee client budgets, adhere to internal budgeting processes and ensure accurate billing.
• Support new‑business development activities, including pipeline management.
• Champion diversity and inclusion within the team and client work.

Required profile

• Proven experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical PR, preferably within a consultancy or in‑house environment.
• Strong media‑relations expertise with a network of UK or international media contacts.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex client accounts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas clearly.
• Detail‑oriented with strong time, project and financial management capabilities.
