About the role
We are looking for a freelance Optical Engineer to create challenging physics‑based problems for AI training projects. You will work remotely on a project‑by‑project basis, helping leading tech companies improve their AI systems.
Key responsibilities
- Design original optics problems that simulate real research workflows.
- Ensure problems are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within days or weeks.
- Develop problem sets covering mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and related optics topics.
- Base problems on real research challenges or practical applications from optics and physics practice.
- Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers.
Required profile
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in applied research, teaching, or industry.
- Experience with numerical simulation methods.
- Ability to design problems that mirror real physics research workflows.
- Creative thinking across diverse physics areas.
- Strong written English (C1+ level).

What we offer
