Gardener & Site Team Operative

About the role

The school is looking for a part‑time Gardener & Site Team Operative to lead gardening and landscaping activities, ensuring the grounds are kept to a high standard throughout the year.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Commercial and Facilities Manager in delivering the school’s strategic objectives.
• Lead all gardening and landscaping work, including maintenance of flower beds, planters and entrance areas.
• Carry out regular weeding, edging, dead‑heading, pruning and general tidying during the growing season (March‑October).
• Plan and implement seasonal planting schemes in line with budget parameters.
• Maintain internal fixtures, fittings and furniture, ensuring safety, cleanliness and tidiness.
• Respond to emergency call‑outs (fire, flood, snow, ice) and ensure security of buildings and grounds.
• Assist with general site maintenance and coordinate building/repair works, keeping accurate logs and records.

Required profile

• Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE level or equivalent).
• Ability to work 15 hours per week across the specified weekday and Saturday pattern.
• Reliability and willingness to respond to emergency situations.

What we offer

• Part‑time role (15 hours per week) with a yearly salary between £10,210 and £10,536.
