Graduate AI and Software Engineer - Automotive MPUs

About the role

NXP Semiconductors is building its Glasgow applications team and wants AI-native graduates to join as a Graduate AI and Software Engineer working on its S32N automotive MPUs. The company's mission is to bring machine learning from the cloud to the edge, running it on silicon in vehicles in real time and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Get hands-on quickly with the S32N MPUs and AI toolchains, preparing, optimising and deploying ML models onto real automotive hardware.
• Prototype new AI use cases such as on-device assistants, anomaly detection and predictive maintenance, and turn them into demos that win designs.
• Write clean, modern software, using AI coding assistants, CI/CD and automation as everyday tools.
• Work with global customers and worldwide engineering teams, becoming the technical voice that shapes how the AI silicon is used.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, AI/ML, Software or a related engineering field.
• Genuine fluency with AI/ML concepts and tools, and comfort experimenting with LLMs and modern AI workflows.
• A builder's mindset: learns by doing, comfortable with the unknown and enjoys open-ended problems.
• Great communication, since you will explain complex ideas to customers and colleagues.

Required skills

• Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow/ONNX
• C/C++ (a plus)
• Version control (git)

Nice to have but will be taught: embedded systems, edge AI deployment, automotive/functional safety awareness, model quantisation and optimisation.
