Graduate Assistant Cost Manager – London

About the role

Join RLB’s Future Professionals programme as a Graduate Assistant Cost Manager. You will work on a variety of construction projects, gaining hands‑on experience in cost management while progressing towards RICS chartership. The role combines technical training, mentorship and real‑world project exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets and cost plans.
• Assist with feasibility studies and benchmarking.
• Support the preparation of tender and contract documents.
• Conduct cost analysis and value‑engineering exercises.
• Monitor and report project costs throughout the lifecycle.
• Help assess and value variations and change control.
• Assist with the preparation of final accounts.
• Engage with clients, contractors and design teams under senior guidance.
• Maintain accurate project records and data.
• Participate in internal and external project meetings.

Required profile

• RICS‑accredited degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (essential).
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage workload, priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within a consultancy environment.
• Proactive problem‑solving approach.
• Team player confident to contribute ideas.
• No prior technical experience required – full training and support provided.
