Graduate Teaching Assistant – Numeracy Support (Watford)

About the role
An outstanding secondary school in Watford is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to provide specialist numeracy support. The role starts in September 2026 and is ideal for a recent Mathematics, STEM or related graduate, or an experienced Learning Support Assistant who wants to develop a career in education.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver targeted numeracy interventions and maths support sessions for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to students with SEN/SEND, including those with EHCPs.
- Support pupils preparing for GCSE Mathematics examinations.
- Reinforce core mathematical concepts, problem‑solving and numerical reasoning.
- Collaborate with maths teachers to adapt resources and learning activities.
- Monitor progress and contribute to intervention strategies.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic and dedicated attitude towards supporting students with additional needs.
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Psychology, Education or any discipline with strong numeracy skills.
- Interest in pursuing a teaching, educational psychology or SEND career path.
Required skills
- Strong numeracy and mathematical reasoning abilities.
- Experience or understanding of SEN/SEND support and EHCPs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
