Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

This full‑time Graduate Teaching Assistant position offers a valuable twelve‑month experience in a ‘good’ secondary school in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. You will support pupils across Key Stage 3 and 4 while gaining classroom practice before teacher training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lessons across a range of subjects.
• Work with pupils individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Help maintain focus, engagement and positive behaviour throughout the school day.
• Support pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional needs, including behaviour and wellbeing.
• Deliver targeted small‑group interventions as required.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and SEND teams.
• Provide personal or intimate care when trained.

Required profile

• Degree (2:2 or above) in English, Science, Maths or a related subject.
• Clear, confident verbal and written communication.
• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Genuine interest in supporting children’s progress and wellbeing.
• Aspiration to train as a teacher and build a long‑term education career.
