Graduate Transport Planner

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Transport Planner to join a leading consultancy in the North East. This role offers the chance to work on a variety of residential, commercial, education, healthcare and mixed‑use projects, supporting them from feasibility through to delivery while developing your technical and professional expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
• Support the production of technical reports and planning documentation.
• Analyse traffic and transport data using industry‑standard software.
• Contribute to junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling.
• Assist with site appraisals and transport feasibility studies.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support senior team members in delivering projects on time and to a high standard.
• Develop an understanding of UK transport planning policy and guidance.

Required profile

• Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
• Passionate about sustainable travel and infrastructure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with good problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence is advantageous but not essential.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
