Group Finance Director

About the role

The Group Finance Director will lead the financial function across a portfolio of businesses in the Sussex area. Reporting to the CEO, this senior position combines strategic planning, reporting, risk management and regulatory compliance to safeguard and grow the organisation's financial health.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the group’s financial strategy in partnership with the CEO and Managing Directors.
• Oversee preparation of accurate management accounts, financial statements and regulatory filings.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes to support operational and growth plans.
• Identify, assess and mitigate financial risks to protect assets.
• Manage cash flow, optimise working capital and ensure sufficient liquidity.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, legal requirements and accounting standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with investors, banks, auditors and other external stakeholders.
• Lead, develop and inspire the finance team, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and drive process improvements.
• Partner with business units to provide financial insights for strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Extensive senior finance experience, preferably within a multi‑entity or group structure.
• Background in distribution and/or manufacturing sectors.
• Strong financial accounting and reporting expertise.
• Proven ability to develop and execute financial strategies.
• In‑depth knowledge of relevant regulations and accounting standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities.
