Group Financial Accountant (12‑month contract)

About the role

A well‑established professional services organisation is seeking a Group Financial Accountant on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis in Manchester. The role offers exposure to group reporting, financial control, systems development and business transformation within a large, complex UK business.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end reporting in line with deadlines.
• Prepare group consolidations and financial statements under UK GAAP (FRS 102).
• Maintain balance‑sheet integrity through accurate reconciliations and controls.
• Support statutory accounts preparation and external audit requirements.
• Manage month‑end activities including journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Maintain intercompany accounting processes and reconciliations.
• Assist with finance system enhancements and process‑improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to business projects, integrations and change programmes.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Previous experience in financial accounting, audit, group reporting or financial control within the UK.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102).
• Experience in a multi‑entity or professional‑services environment.
• High analytical and problem‑solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build stakeholder relationships.
• Available to start immediately or at short notice.

Required skills

• SAP (ERP system experience).
