Group Internal Auditor

About the role

The Group Internal Auditor will join SSE’s Group Internal Audit function, supporting the delivery of strategic objectives and protecting organisational value. Working across the UK, you will spend part of your week in Glasgow or Perth and collaborate with stakeholders to provide assurance and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and scoping of audits assigned from the Group Internal Audit Plan.
• Execute audit fieldwork in line with SSE Internal Audit Methodology and recognised professional standards.
• Analyse audit results, identify findings, assess significance and risk implications.
• Communicate progress and results effectively with stakeholders throughout the audit lifecycle.
• Provide insight and analysis to support risk management and identify efficiency opportunities.

Required profile

• Part‑ or full‑time accountancy/audit qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum three years of experience in internal audit or a related finance role.
• Ability to quickly understand complex business processes and design appropriate audit testing approaches.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including audit report preparation.
• Proven ability to influence and work with a wide range of stakeholders.
