Group Operations Director (MD Succession)

About the role

We are seeking a senior operational leader to become Group Operations Director for a £35 m multi‑site food business based in Manchester. Reporting directly to the Board and owners, the role includes a clear succession path to Managing Director within 12 months, with responsibility for overall P&L, growth strategy and operational performance across the group.

Key responsibilities

• Full P&L ownership and accountability for the £35 m business.
• Develop and execute growth and operational strategies across all sites.
• Lead a senior leadership team covering Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance and Human Resources.
• Drive operational excellence, efficiency and profitability.
• Partner with the Board on strategic planning and investment decisions.
• Ensure robust financial controls and performance management.
• Lead change, continuous‑improvement and culture initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in food manufacturing, food service or food retail.
• Proven track record managing multi‑site operations with full P&L responsibility.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience delivering growth strategies.
• Excellent stakeholder and people management skills.
• Hands‑on, results‑oriented approach with ability to influence at all levels.
