Head of Commercial – Corporate Services

About the role

The Metropolitan Police Service is seeking an experienced Head of Commercial (Corporate) to provide interim leadership for a £100 million annual Corporate Services portfolio. This senior position will shape strategic procurement decisions that support frontline policing while leading a high‑performing commercial team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the strategic delivery and management of the Corporate Services category portfolio, including Occupational Health, Records Management & Digitisation, HR and Business Services, Workplace Services and Stationery.
• Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies aligned with organisational priorities.
• Manage a team of 6‑7 commercial professionals, driving performance, capability and professional development.
• Partner with senior stakeholders and Management Board representatives to deliver value‑for‑money commercial solutions.
• Lead complex, high‑value procurements and supplier negotiations, ensuring robust governance and risk management.
• Oversee strategic supplier relationships, contract performance and compliance with procurement regulations and MPS/MOPAC governance.

Required profile

• Commercially astute leader with strong strategic thinking, people leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience delivering high‑value procurement programmes in a complex public‑sector environment.
• Eligibility to work and reside in the UK for the past five years (CTC vetting requirement).

• 12‑month fixed‑term contract (possible extension to 18 months).
• Daily rate of £650 – £800 (umbrella).
