Head of Communications – End‑of‑Life Charity

About the role

Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end‑of‑life charity, is seeking a Head of Communications to shape its external narrative and amplify its impact. Reporting to senior leadership, you will steer the communication strategy that positions the organisation as the expert voice on end‑of‑life care across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage the external communications strategy in line with organisational values and objectives.
• Collaborate across directorates to ensure consistent, effective messaging.
• Lead crisis communications alongside the Director of Corporate and Strategic Communications and the Head of PR and Media.
• Guide, mentor and develop the communications team.
• Oversee major communication campaigns, including change and advocacy initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior communications role delivering organisation‑wide plans that support business goals.
• Track record of leading large‑scale communication campaigns and change communications.
• Experience managing and developing a communications team.
• Ability to work across complex organisations and align multiple departments.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with influence at all levels.
• Excellent project‑management capability to align campaigns with strategic objectives.

• Competitive salary £58,500‑£65,000 depending on experience.
