Head of Enterprise Governance

About the role

As Head of Enterprise Governance you will sit at the centre of a national charity’s Digital, Data and Technology function, guiding how decisions are made, risks are managed and change is delivered safely at scale. The role is remote‑first with occasional on‑site days in Peterborough or London, offering a unique chance to build governance frameworks from day one during a major transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement governance frameworks, decision‑making structures and assurance processes across the organisation.
• Provide oversight for enterprise architecture, cyber security, risk and compliance functions.
• Balance delivery speed with risk management to enable confident delivery by product teams.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to embed proportionate controls that support, rather than hinder, innovation.
• Maintain and evolve governance standards in line with industry best practices.

Required profile

• Senior experience in governance, risk, assurance, audit, security or compliance.
• Proven track record of building or improving governance in evolving or immature environments.
• Experience working across digital, data and technology functions.
• Strong understanding of governance frameworks such as COBIT or ISO.
• Ability to translate complex risk into clear, practical decision‑making and to influence senior stakeholders.
