Head of Estates – NHS Trust (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Head of Estates to lead its estate portfolio on a two‑year fixed‑term basis. Reporting to senior estates leadership, you will shape strategy, oversee large‑scale infrastructure projects and ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of estates services across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational estates services across all Trust locations.
• Ensure full statutory compliance for mechanical, electrical, fire, water safety, legionella, medical gases, asbestos and ventilation systems.
• Manage and develop internal estates teams, specialist services and external contractors.
• Oversee hard FM delivery, asset management, maintenance programmes and lifecycle planning.
• Control significant operational and capital budgets and drive service‑improvement programmes.
• Support sustainability and carbon‑reduction initiatives.
• Provide expert advice to senior leadership on technical estates matters.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level estates leadership experience in healthcare, public sector or similar complex environments.
• Proven ability to manage large budgets and contracted service providers.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with executive‑level influence.
• Demonstrated track record of leading multidisciplinary estates and engineering teams.
