Head of Finance (Part‑Time, 1 day/week)

About the role

This part‑time Head of Finance role supports a long‑established Glasgow‑based business operating in healthcare, life sciences and higher education. Working one day a week, you will act as a trusted financial advisor to the Board, elevating reporting capability and providing commercial insight to drive strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and enhance monthly management reporting for the Board and senior leadership.
• Develop clear, commercially focused and visually engaging reporting packs.
• Translate financial data into meaningful insight, trends, commentary and forecasts.
• Improve the presentation, usability and clarity of all financial information.
• Analyse fee performance, profitability, cash‑flow, working capital, debtors, revenue pipelines and operational indicators.
• Review and improve the annual budgeting process, implementing best practice.
• Ensure accurate cash‑flow forecasting, monitoring and reporting.
• Maintain reporting integrity and consistency across the business.
• Serve as the primary interface with external accountants and advisors.
• Support the ongoing strengthening of financial governance and forecasting capability.

Required profile

• Experienced finance professional with a commercial mindset.
• Proven ability to act as a strategic advisor to senior boards.
• Track record of moving finance functions beyond reporting into proactive business partnering.
• Suitable for a semi‑retired professional or someone seeking a high‑impact fractional role.
