Head of IT Infrastructure and Cyber Security

About the role

University College Birmingham is seeking a dynamic senior leader to head its IT Infrastructure and Cyber Security function. The role will shape the strategic direction, resilience and security of the university’s digital environment, ensuring reliable services for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a long‑term strategy for IT infrastructure, networking and cyber security.
• Maintain the integrity, availability and security of all digital services across the campus.
• Lead transformational projects, overseeing change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships and service level agreements.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to align technology solutions with institutional goals.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in IT services within a large organisation.
• Strong track record of delivering infrastructure and networking projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in cyber‑security governance and risk management.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
