Head of Legal

About the role

Orchard Therapeutics is seeking a senior legal leader to head its global legal function. Based at the London headquarters, the Head of Legal will act as a strategic advisor across commercial, clinical, regulatory, employment, IP and business development matters, and will serve as Company Secretary to the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the global legal team, external counsel and third‑party vendors.
• Partner with internal functions and the parent company on legal, compliance and governance issues.
• Act as Company Secretary, preparing board materials, minutes and resolutions.
• Oversee corporate governance filings for the group and subsidiaries.
• Develop and execute global compliance, risk and privacy programs, including policy creation, training and incident management.
• Provide legal advice on commercial contracts, supply‑chain agreements, clinical consents and reporting.
• Support R&D licensing, IP strategy and collaboration agreements.
• Coordinate dispute response, assess risk and manage resolution processes.
• Advise on employment documentation, worker classification and related matters.
• Negotiate business development, in‑licensing and out‑licensing transactions.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing a global legal function within a life‑sciences or biotech company.
• Proven expertise advising on commercial, clinical, R&D and compliance matters.
• Strong collaborative leadership style with ability to work across functions and geographies.
• Experience serving as Company Secretary or similar governance role.
